Cooling Skincare Techniques

Summer is in all its glory, and there are a lot of positives to it. Still, the increase in temperature summer brings and its effects on your skin cannot be underestimated.
Theo following are techniques for you to use to cool down in summer.
- Take Regular Showers during the Day
To cool down your skin, you should take as many showers as possible to cool down your skin. Of course, this may not be possible if you have to go to work.
This is why on weekends, it is a very simple technique for you to take as many showers as possible. Endeavor to make your showers longer than the usual ones you take when you are rushing off to work.
It is also a cool (pun intended) practice if you don’t towel off as you’d normally do. Instead, get a mini fan or anything else that moves the air, and let it blow on you. The combination of the cool water and the moving air will cool you down very nicely.
- Aloe Vera Gel
As far as cooling your skin is concerned, gel cosmetics give the skin the cooled-down feeling you crave. Unlike cream-based cosmetics, they absorb faster into your skin and are less messier.
In summer, it’s best to have with you a portable tube of gel moisturizer. You’d be able to cool down anywhere you are. One of the best options for this is aloe vera.
The pulp of aloe vera has a high percentage of water, and this is what makes it such a soothing hydrant for the skin. And yes, you guessed right; this is also why there are a lot of after-sun skincare cosmetics that have aloe vera as an ingredient.
- Body Mist/Face Mist
Body mists are a popular alternative option to taking showers constantly. Most body mists come in handy packages, so you can take them with you anywhere you go. A good rule of thumb with body mists is that they feel great and cool on your skin on a warm day.
You can also buy your body mist or make them yourself. If you’re buying, try to make sure aloe vera is a part of its ingredients. We discussed the hydrating powers of aloe vera in the second recommendation on this list.
If you’re going down the DIY route, we’ve got some awesome recommendations for you;
- Green Tea
Making body mist with green tea is one of the most effective and simple ways. Green tea is a natural skin toner and detoxifier. It also helps to refresh your skin and reduce inflammation.
When making your green tea body mist, it is advisable to add a little aloe vera gel. You can also add cucumber into the mix if you want even more cooling ingredients.
- Coconut Water and Aloe Vera Juice
!!!!!
This mixture is so great we would love to try it on, right now!
Coconut water is a great choice to cool sunburned skin. But you don’t have to get a sunburn before you enjoy the benefits of coconut water. You can also mix a little aloe vera gel with coconut water to make your body mist.
- Chamomile Tea
This is another excellent option for your body mist. Chamomile tea is known for being gentle on the skin, whilst also being soothing. Sounds like a mixture you want on your skin? Then get to making it!
- Apply Cold Pressure Strategically
The application of cold pressure has to be done properly for the best effect. Using an icepack or frozen peas, apply cold pressure on your temples, chest, wrist, and neck. These are the points at which you can access your blood and the circulatory system easily.
Also, you can apply the ice packs against the brainstem that runs in the back of your neck. Doing this will help you access the part of your brain that regulates body temperature. You’ll feel a lot cooler doing this.
- Use a Cucumber Face Pack
Cucumber is a cooling agent for your skin. This is because of the rich amounts of water present in cucumber. It is also packed full of antioxidants that help to refresh your skin.
To use a cucumber face pack, follow the below steps;
- Chill cucumber in your fridge.
- Crush it to extract the juice.
- Using a cotton pad, soak in the juice and apply the mix facially.
- Let the mix dry before you wash it off.
Bottomline
The constant sweating, the frizzy hair, and the consistent need to get cool can get on your nerves in summer.
